Planned Maintenance Outage for 9/21/12

On Saturday September 22nd, (tomorrow morning) We will be relocating our STL Microwave dish. This will result in an outage of ALL our signals of Awbrey Butte which of course will also affect our translator network.
The planned outage will start at or near 7am and last for about 2-3 hours.

    I am so tired of watching KTVZ21 in the am and getting the “pink” screen and interruption of program. It seems to happen only when programming is switched from news to weather. It is consistently happening. I know that it is not my TV, as I have another one that it happens simutaneasly. It has been going on for months now. Can someone tell me why, or if there are other complaints with the same description as my experience??

    • On 8/29/12 we took a new Broadcast system live to air. The following week we noticed the issue that you speak of and began troubleshooting the problem. We attempted to rebuild the entire News interface several times over the past four weeks with no resolve. At this point we believe we have narrowed down the problem and hope to have it resolved in the next few days. I will be posting a detailed explanation of what we have been dealing with for the past several weeks and what has been done to resolve these issues.

    Why does ch 21 have short picture freezes constantly?. seems to happen a lot during the news broadcasts.

    • We have been working on this issue since the launch of our new Broadcast system on 8/29/12. We have narrowed down the problem to an issue with our new Transport Stream Encoders. We will be running tests today to determine if in fact these brand new units are giving us the intermittent errors that look to be the cause of the freezing issue. This issue should be resolved in the next few days.

    AV, Seems to happen more when you switch to the weather maps. Poor Bob. He must feel sabatoged. He and the other announcers are so professional. They deserve a better technical support. The “pink” screen has been going on a lot longer than a few weeks. I think your alleged source as of 8/29/12 is not the source. It has been an on and off problem for a long time. I just hope you don’t loose your viewers because of it. I have been switching to NWCN channel with Keisha Burns (who used to be with your channel) temporarily for a reliable weather report. Good luck.
    Hope you can get to the bottom of it.
