Update: On air issues – 12/30/11

We are continuing to have issues with our microwave system that is affecting our over the air signal quality. We are diligently working on the issue and hope to have a resolution soon.

We have decreased our Transmitter power outputs so that we can have a technician climb the tower and inspect the transmission line and microwave dish. We have already inspected the line and dish at the studio site. We are also awaiting replacement equipment.

Thank you for your understanding and please bare with us while we work out these technical problems.

  1. Cliff Peck Broadcast Engineer KTVZ, KFXO, KQRE, NTVZ says:

We have resolved the primary problem with the STL Microwave system that has been affecting our Digital Broadcast signals from Awbrey Butte. The final componet for complete resoultion will arrive and be installed the first part of next week. Even though we have resolved the larger issue, you may still see an occational freeze up or pixilation until the repairs are complete.
Thank You for your continued patience and understanding during this time. It is our goal here at News Channel 21 and Fox Central Oregon to provide you, Our Viewers the very best service possible.

I sure do miss having KTVZ’s presence in Burns. It was the closest thing to “local” news that we could get. I am so disappointed we will no longer get your programing, it was our only source of television. (We used rabbit ears in order to get the procast, now we have nothing). If there is anyway to get it back, I know there would be a lot of people who would appreciate it.

    Sincerely,
    Sue Herringshaw
