Update: On air issues 10/6/11

We are still experiencing issues with our microwave equipment. We will be replacing some equipment tomorrow and will continue to work on this issue until it is resolved.

Earlier today everything cleared up for several hours. Then around 4PM we lost the Digital stream for KTVZ. The fact that the problem is coming and going is making it difficult to troubleshoot.

Thanks very much for updating the blog! It was nice being able to see updates here instead of my having to call. Sorry it’s been difficult to find the problem. I work in IT Support and it’s not always easy to track down the issue. I am in Sunriver area and currently have NBC & Fox.

Any reason why I’m not getting KTVZ in widescreen HD over the air tonight? And no 5.1 audio? I just switched to an antenna, so I don’t know if this is normal or not…

    • KTVZ is in 16:9 during our live news cast and live network feeds. All of our recorded programming is in 4:3. This is something that we are working to change. While we may not be able to eliminate 4:3 programming completely, certain shows such as Ellen, Dr. Phil, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune are available in 16:9 HD. We are in the process of building a new system that will allow us to air this programming.

With regards to 5.1 audio, our new system will be able to accommodate that as well. We are aiming to have this new system installed by the end of 2012.

I just did a auto channel search scan on my HDTV and now I don’t get any of the digital 22 channels (22-1, 22-2, 22-3) at all!!! What is going on now with the over-the-air broadcasting? Is this problem only with the translator on Grizzly Mountain?

It was posted earlier by Amador that the “guide” would be back the first week of October–it’s still not working—and that a new channel (digital channel 20) would be added by end of October—don’t have it and now all of the digital channel 22 channels are gone/lost!!!!

I use an outside roof mounted antennea to receive the over-the-air channels (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX)–I have had Directv (for over 10 years) to get my other channels and have not had any problems with it at all—-(the ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX channels are not available on Directv in the Bend/Redmond area otherwise I would pay the extra dollars to get them and take my roof mounted antennea down).

Would somebody in engineering please post to this blog and keep us consumers informed as to what is happening—and when we can expect things to get back to normal!!!!! Its the not knowing nor getting any updated information that is so frustrating!!!
