Issues during last nights airing of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune

During last night’s airing of Jeopardy our automation computer that runs the playlists for KTVZ and KQRE had a hard drive failure. This system is built with a backup drive and the computer was able to right itself after a few seconds. However, there were some missed spots and the timeline was off by a minute or so. Because the timeline was off, the end of Wheel of Fortune was clipped.

This system, along with most of our equipment, runs 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week/ 365 days a year. Equipment failure is inevitable. We here at KTVZ do our best every day to minimize the effect of these outages on our viewers.

For those viewers who want to know… the contestant on Wheel of Fortune did not win the million dollar prize. He won $40,000, which in my opinion is still a nice chunk of change.

  1. Carole Brock says:

why is it that we that recieve 21-1,21-2 and 21-3 through an HD TV box continue to lose reception from you or like the last few days I have a strong signal and yet poor reception from you. Your IT air page doesn’t keep these issues updated or ETA on fixes. The last entry there talked about Jeopardy from last night and yet this issue has persisted all day today without updates.
