Channel 22 on Grizzly Mtn.

For the past few weeks we have been experiencing issues with the Channel 22 translator on Grizzly Mtn. This translator carries the following services:
22.1 – KTVZ NBC News Channel 21 (HD)
22.2 – NTVZ The CW Central Oregon’s CW Network (SD)
22.3 – KFXO Fox Central Oregon (SD)

As of Monday 6/20 we were able to resolve the audio problem where some viewers might have seen lip sync issues or heard distorted audio and others might have lost audio all together. However, now we are having an issue with getting the guide information to past thru the system. The guide information consists of the title of the show and a short description of the episode. We will continue to work on the guide info issue and update this post when it is resolved.

In the meantime everyone should now be able to watch the services on Ch. 22 without any audio problems. If you are not able to receive Ch. 22 try and rescan for channels on your TV or digital converter box. Some changes in the Transport Stream were made and you may need to rescan in order to lock back on to the signal.

Thank you,
Amador Velasquez

Are you still working on correcting the “guide” problem? It is August 1st and guide still isn’t working correctly–I have noticed that on those 3 channels (22-1, 22-2 & 22-3) the clock/time is off (behind) about an hour or so does that have anything to do with the guide not working properly?

    • Yes, we are still working on this issue. We purchased a new distribution system for our translators and it is not working for us. Before we completely scrap the system we are allowing the manufacturers to take a look at the equipment and see if they can get it all to work properly. I will give them another few weeks to try and work the kinks out, if they are unable to do it by then we will look for a new distribution system.

      thank you,

I guess you didn’t see my question of Sept. 15th so I will ask again, since it’s now Sept. 20th—–when is the “guide” going to be fixed????? In your response dated August 2nd you stated you would give the manufacturers another few weeks to try and work the kinks out——has anything been resolved? Is anybody working on correcting the problem? What is the status now?

      • I apologize for the delay in response. I was out of the office last week and have been up on Grizzly Mtn this week. Here is the latest. We are currently in the process of installing a new PSIP (Program and System Information Protocol) server. We will be moving from the Triveni GuideBuilder system to the DTV Innovations PSIP Pro system.
There are many reasons for this move but the main one is that our old system is just that…old. It’s still running Windows 2000 Server, which in IT terms means it’s ancient. We have to reboot the server on a regular basis to keep it running.
Once this new system is up and running we will be able to restore the guide info to Ch. 22 and Ch. 27. On a separate but related note, we are currently working on installing a Ch. 20 translator on Grizzly Mtn. This translator will be rebroadcasting our KTVZ HD, CW SD, and Fox SD services. Channel 22 will not go away, but this new Channel 20 translator will be much more powerful and cover the area much better than Ch. 22 does now.
The new PSIP system should be up and running by the first week of October. Channel 20 should be on the air by the end of October.

It’s now September 15th and the “guide” still doesn’t work—what is the update on resolving that problem?

  3. Cheryl says:

Thanks for your reply–that is all good news!!!! Glad to hear that “things” are getting updated and upgraded—-looking forward to the new PSIP system the first week of October and will re-scan my HDTV the end of October to get channel 20.
