Congress has approved the Commercial Advertising Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act and is now awaiting President Obama’s signature. The CALM Act is meant to combat the long-standing issue of inconsistent audio between TV commercials and TV programming.
NPG of Oregon has been looking into a solution for inconsistent audio for some time. We have decided on utilizing the Miranda Technologies Automatic Loudness Control (ALC) within the Miranda Products that we use for audio processing.
To ensure comfortable audio levels for our viewers, we will be investing in ALC for KTVZ News Channel 21, KFXO Fox Central Oregon, and KQRE Telemundo. We have already installed this technology on The CW in HD, which is available on Bend Broadband cable systems channel 612.
