Channel 39.1 KFXO Fox Central Oregon to Receive Transmitter Power Upgrade

We will be building a new more powerful transmitter for Channel 39.1 KFXO Fox Central Oregon. The new transmitter should be built, installed, and on the air by the first week of December 2010.

The new transmitter is almost 4 times as powerful as the current Channel 39.1 transmitter. This increase in power will produce a better signal for those who can already receive it and a new service for those who have never been able to receive KFXO over the air.

The transmitter will be located on Awbrey Butte in Bend, OR. If you currently receive KTVZ News Channel 21 over the air you should be able to pick up KFXO once we switch over to the new transmitter. In order to receive the service you will need to rescan your TV tuner or converter box.

As part of this transition, Analog Channel 39 will be shut down for good. Those viewers who still haven’t purchased a DTV converter box for their older model analog TVs will need to do so as soon as possible. Go to for more information about Digital Television. Viewers are also welcome to ask any questions about DTV as a comment on this blog or e-mail me at

I heard I will need to “rescane” my tv converter box. How do you do that?
    Thanks Larry French

  2. Shane says:

Did the upgrade go through in 12/2010? I’m still getting a very low signal for any stations on the 39 band. 11, 21 and 51 come in nice and strong. 7 is non-existent of course.

  3. @Shane Yes the upgrade went through in 12/2010. Did you rescan your converter box or TV tuner? If you would like more assistance with receiving Ch. 39 please e-mail me your phone # and I or someone from my staff will contact you.
